The Introduction to Internet Governance, a publication that has served to many as the entry point to the world of issues related to how the Internet is governed. Holistically describing and analysing the various ‘baskets’ of Internet governance taxonomy, it keeps evolving as do the issues covered. The 8th edition of Jovan Kurbalija’s book will be presented at the Internet Governance Forum in Norway. This book clearly shows that although the Internet is a ‘technical’ invention, its governance is far from simply a technical issue. The Lightning Talk will provide an update on the new issues this policy field had to absorb in the last years and touch upon some open questions such as why we should keep calling the internet governance internet governance.
We understand lighting talks are in person only events. In case remote participation is secured, we will - in line with Diplo’s long term commitment to hybrid event experience - accommodate the online audience to have a valuable experience. Should the session be in person only, we will make sure we effectively communicate the session content and the book to be presented with stakeholders across stakeholder groups and continents, stressing the connection of issues discussed in the publication with the undertakings of the Internet Governance Forum.
