PEMRA has been mandated to regulate private electronic media in Pakistan. We mainly issue licences for establishment & operations of satellite TV channels, FM Radio Stations, Cable Networks, Landing Rights Permissions to foreign STV channels to allow broadcasting & distribution of content in Pakistan for the consumption of public at large.
We do face challenge with regard to authentic news, fair journalism and hate speech etc. So, we look forward to learn & impliment international practices in not only content creation for public but also vie for regulatory mechanisms to keep a reasonable check on content for the public good.
